Opening Prayer
Welcoming and Embracing God, you ask sacrifice at times, as a way of being faithful. You test our faith. Loved ones are lost – our hearts weep as we try to be faithful to you. It is challenging. You are a God of challenge even as You welcome and embrace us. We believe that Your banquet is open to the poor, fragile, forsaken, and forgotten of this world – the people we sometimes see as outcasts and dispensable. Your affection for the poor is a challenge to us, who seek to be rich. We are grateful that You invite us to Your banquet – help us to have the proper attitudes and behaviors which are the expected wedding garment for Your eternal banquet. We ask this in the Name of Jesus, Who is our sacrifice and our Bread of Life.
