Opening Prayer

Great Builder, Creator of the Universe, now You are building Your dwelling place among us. It is so humbling and awesome that You, the Eternal Light, choose not to live off in some distant heavens, but to erect Your home within and among us, Your people. You make us holy by Your presence. You are building a lighthouse so that you can shine through us to guide all people to the peace, justice and vision of Your reign. Make us transparent that You may shine through us. Continue to burn brighter than the darkness and pettiness we sometimes create. Hold us to the truth of Your house: that You will treat us the way we treat one another. It is a challenging law, but with Your Spirit present within us, we can live by the light of Jesus and transform this world into a fitting dwelling place for You. It is wonderful to live under Your roof and by Your light. Thank you!
