Opening Prayer

Why does it always feel like we are in a wrestling match with You, God of Justice!?! We love each other, and yet we struggle for our values. And You always win! I truly want You to win, but for some reason I still struggle and wrestle with you as I try to incorporate the values of Your Reign. Humble me to empty myself as Jesus did – to be totally open to You. Like the sons of the master, may my actions speak louder and more clearly than my words. I’m sorry for my duplicity! Pour forth Your Spirit within us that we may have integrity of our words, attitudes and actions in our life of faith. We may look and act like compromising tax collectors and prostitutes, Lord, but we are seeking You and Your ways. Gather us into the arms of Your embrace and values of Your Reign. We don’t want to struggle with You!
