Opening Prayer
Lord, there is some strange disorder in us: we persecute what we most believe in and crave. We are self-destructive, and need Your saving power. Like people of old, some cynical darkness moves us to demean innocence and goodness. We persecute Your prophets and rail against the truth, even if it is for our own good. You need to save us from our self-destruction. InSpirit us with peace and harmony, which balances the energies of our dreams, hurts, fears, and insecurities. Save us from the disorder we create. Empower us beyond the power- struggles of our life. Like the apostles, we don’t get the point that power corrupts. You are about service which uplifts, frees and ennobles. Give us Your child-like innocence which embraces with open arms and enjoys, rather than hearts armed with violence and fear which grasps, possesses, shrinks and competes. You are our Savior, Lord Jesus! Save us from our sin and ourselves!
