Opening Prayer

God of the harvest, it is Your wish and Paul’s prayer that love grow, blossom and flourish in our hearts. We need Your gardening help. Mature us in faith to make the necessary sacrifices and take the life-giving risks that You might reap the harvest of justice. Purify our consciences of deception which rationalizes injustice. Weed our hearts so that we might be blameless in behavior. Instruct us again to faithfully and scrupulously observe the heart of Your law, and not get lost in the details. Your law is love. Reap Your harvest, God of love, and uproot what is destructive and unjust in the fields of our lives.
