Opening Prayer

Do you get hurt and frustrated when we lose faith and our confidence slacks off, Faithful One? In times of trial, darkness and misunderstanding, we panic. We want to look good in the eyes of others – keep our eyes on You, Lord Jesus! Even when the ground seems barren and hard, empower us to see You as our life- force. You are already planted within us. Give us patience to watch for the mysterious ways You and Your Reign are growing and blossoming in the human experience. Sometimes You seem so small and invisible InSpirit us to believe that You have not died in the earth of our human experience, but are growing into a marvelous and refreshing tree of life. Make us comfortable with your parables that we might plumb their depths and listen to You! As Thomas Aquinas faithfully translated Your Message into the language and philosophy of his day, may Your Wisdom inspire us to translate faithfully Your Message into the language and philosophy of our day – in this temple of our human experience, where You speak to us today.
