Opening Prayer

Yahweh, You are One Who is! You are the ground of our being. Like Moses, we take off our shoes and all that prevents us from being in close, intimate contact with You. Holy One, help us not to be afraid to walk barefoot in the holy ground of our lives, and experience You as the support and foundation of our journey. Walking without defenses, may we feel Your Presence between our toes as we experience Your Fire burning in our hearts. As we hear Your Voice and Name, help us to be still in Your awesome, fiery Presence, and not to run away. Empower us to speak Your Word of freedom to all exiles in the bondage of oppression. Enable us to run where You call and send us. Teach us to drink from the rocky challenges and trust that You are the nourishment of life. May Your fiery Presence clarify for us that tragedies are not moral evil and we are not always to blame for the travails of our life. Your journey in us has painful turns and terrifying detours, but You are faithful. Like the fig tree, give us another chance, another year to blossom, because of Your patience, nourishment and faithful tending. Here I am, Lord! Thank You for being here with me!
