Opening Prayer

God of the Covenant, You draw us to Yourself with embracing love. We are blood brothers and sisters with You by Your plan. We are betrothed in a life-commitment symbolized by blood, sprinkled on You and us. Jesus is our sacrifice and high priest. His blood has changed everything and united us with You. You have made us holy in His Blood and You feed us with His Body. We are what we eat and drink! Thank you, Holy God, for embracing and nurturing us, even as You embrace us and identify with us. Keep us faithful to your real presence in the Bread and Wine and in each other. You transubstantiate symbols of food and drink, that You might transubstantiate us, that we might transubstantiate our world. InSpirit us to eat and drink in memory of Jesus, knowing that at His table we are one with You and each other. Yes, we are what we eat and drink, Lord Jesus. Help us believe that and live from your sustenance.
