Opening Prayer

You really do trust us, Jesus! Thank you! As you go home to God, there is a part of me which feels empty and lost. I want to hang onto you and grab your heel, begging you to stay. I know that you promised to be with us, but your physical presence would help so much. I so often look heavenward for you to do something. Teach me to look for your presence and powerful Spirit here in the world of my human experience – in the gifts and crevices of life. Humble me to know that Your Spirit, God’s Spirit, comes and dwells within and around me, permeating our world, empowering us to create your reign of justice, reconciliation and peace. Continue to be with us, Lord Jesus, and help your whole Body ascend with you to God’s heart in the new Jerusalem.

This day, in 1883, young St. Therese was healed by Our Lady of the Smile. May you smile on us and help us to smile amid the tensions, dyings and risings that are your paschal mystery happening within us. Heal the hurts of your Body, your growing vine. Bless our Moms today, and all the women who give us life and nurture us, as a reflection and human expression of Your maternal love for us!
