Opening Prayer

We need your healing power, Lord God of Life. The leprosy of violence, discrimination, hatred, apathy and indifference eats away our spirit and blotches our attitudes. We ostracize others we deem leprous, denying that we are ones riddled with sores. We need your helping and cleansing touch, Lord, in body, mind, spirit, memory and relationships. Hurts and disease isolate and privatize us. As you touched the leper, violating all health and religious law, reach again and touch us. Your hand heals. Your presence connects. Cleanse the sores which eat away the integrity and health of your people. We need your healing touch, Jesus, personally and as a people.
