Opening Prayer

God of all creation, sometimes we get so wrapped up in our self-importance. Do you smile and look away at our self-deception? Life is so fragile, and I know it every time a loved one dies. Life is more tenuous than I ever want to imagine. We control very little, and we can disappear like vapor. I love the way you challenge our negativity and destructive insecurity. We attack what we do not understand or feel threatened by. Sometimes we are so arrogant that we think You can only work through us. Teach us the lesson to presume the good in others and reverence You working in them, even when we do not understand.
