Opening Prayer

Jesus, sometimes I’m silent because I don’t want You to know what I’m thinking and discussing with others, like Your earlier disciples. But You know, don’t you! Bless us with child-like simplicity and steadfast hearts that we might attend to You and others with sincere and undivided hearts. Empower us to cling to You in triumphs, tests, and tribulations which refine the fickleness of our following. InSpirit us not to be like Your deceitful and dumb disciples who are jockeying for positions or power as You proclaim a painful end of days. We want to walk with You today, Jesus, no matter where and what happens. Refine us like gold so that we are not afraid, but rather glow courageously. Touch and enliven the child in us today, and renew the simplicity and wonder which has not died, even though it suffocates in cynicism sometimes.
