Opening Prayer

God the Provider, You are awesome. There is always more than enough at Your table – and You welcome everyone! We often eat first and take care of our needs, before we share with others of our abundance. You always give of Your substance – Your very life! Help us overcome the hoarding instinct which divides our world and Your people. Teach us to trust You that there is more than enough for the whole human family, if we share what You have given to us. Help us work to change structures which create haves and have-nots. So many people are still so hungry, and we are overweight and on diets! Create the justice of Your reign. Humble us with wonder at the leftovers we usually hoard. You fill us with good things and provide more than enough. Thank you, Gracious and Generous God! Be King of our hearts, Nurturing God!
