Opening Prayer

Mary, Mother of God, how your heart must have broken watching your Son die a painful death as a common criminal! Your faith in God must have been so tested. Yet, you are faithful. How many other times was your heart gripped with fear, anguish, and pain as you watched your Son grow, search, listen to the voice of God within, and begin His ministry. Like all of our Moms, you worried and wondered. You are the faithful lover. In the end, your painful tears did not diminish your faith that God was present and operating within the tragedy of the cross. Amid the valleys, darkness, sorrows, and disappointments of life, help us to believe that God’s loving and saving presence is with us. Thank You, Mother of God’s people, for weeping with and for us today!
