Opening Prayer

Awesome and Holy God of Light, You are the spark of the human soul. You call us on a journey, within and beyond, to Your heart. You call us into darkness, drawn by Your light. You embrace us as Your daughters and sons, who are precious in your sight, are embraced by your loving arms, and are tabernacles of Your inviting presence. Your Spirit protects us from the dangers, detours, and darkness of the journey. You draw us forth to light. You espouse us with passionate love. You unite Yourself to us in a union so intense and passionate that You are difficult to distinguish. InSpirit us with courage that we be not afraid as You pursue us and overwhelm us with Your fiery love and sparkling glory. Give us the faith and passion of John of the Cross to pursue You, as the living Flame. InSpirit us with courage that we be not afraid as You pursue us and overwhelm us with Your fiery love and sparkling glory.
