Opening Prayer
God, beyond all names, You claim us as You name us Your own. As John the Baptist named Jesus as Your anointed, name us with our identity and mission. Give us the searching faith of Andrew and Simon to follow him, and change us along the journey of discipleship. Begotten of Your Son, we are children of grace. Keep us faithful to our calling and new identity by the way we treat each other. Make Your naming work within and among us. Keep us faithful to our destiny and mission. Let us not be begotten or beholden to any negative or demonic energy which tries to claim us. Keep us holy, Son of the Nameless God, Whom we call Jesus.
Today we celebrate the Baptism of the “Little Flower” in 1873. Keep us faithful to our immersion in Christ’s life and love as St. Therese was and is!
