Opening Prayer

Why is Your Word so sweet and sour, Jesus? I try to swallow what You speak. I have mixed reactions to what You serve in the banquet of my life experience. Enable me to taste the bitter and the sweet as gifts from You. Help them to balance the many spices on my palate. When Your Spirit churns within me, help me to speak Your message in a language people can understand. As You purged the temple, continue to purge my soul that I might be a person of prayer, not a suspicious thief nor a destructive spy. Give me the intestinal fortitude and strong spirit to listen to You and swallow Your powerful message so that it transforms me.
