Opening Prayer

Lord Jesus, sometimes we are so disillusioned by life that we don’t trust you. We learn caution and develop cynicism. Touch our hardened hearts today so that we can believe again in your faithfulness. Your Word is absolute, and has eternally transformed us. You are not as fickle as our human experience suggests others are. Imprint deeply in our hearts today that we are your beloved now and forever. Thank you for entrusting us to be light and salt. Keep us faithful to your freeing light in the way we look at and behave toward others. May we be salt which enhances flavor, rather than causing stress and high blood pressure in others. Humble us to know the measure of light and salt which is good for others.
