Friday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

First Scripture Reading
2 Corinthians 11: 18, 21-30
Gospel Reading
Matthew 6: 19-23

Opening Prayer

Holy God, I want You to be the treasure of my heart. My heart is restless for You, even if it looks like I’m running in all other crazy directions! Give me today the light to see You more clearly and to embrace the values which enlighten and free others rather than the resources which corrode, rust and destroy Your reign and family. Give me the generous spirit of Paul in serving You and the people who are the churches of my life these days. Humble me not to suffer self- pity for all the ways I give and suffer, but to acknowledge that You are more than anything I’ve given or suffered. Teach me to be foolish, frivolous and wonderful in the generosity of service, and not count the cost of love.
