Opening Prayer

God of Fire, Your burning Coal touches our lips and sears our hearts. Give us again a vision of Your Glory. Light Your Fire within the embers of our stagnant souls. Scorch our experience that we might swallow and speak Your Word. Like Paul and Isaiah, we are humbled by the gracious way You come to us and call us. You reveal Your Divine Presence as energy to use our gifts and weaknesses to proclaim Your saving Love.

Like Peter and the others, sometimes we have toiled long into the night, but with little results. We get tired and disillusioned. Touch us again. Refine our unworthiness. Refire the ashes that we may return to the regular routine of our lives and fish again in the same ole ponds, with a renewed energy, a new passion, and a humble spirit so that You can work Your wonders in us.
