Opening Prayer
The intimacy of Your presence is awesome, God of love. Thank You for creating us in Your image and intensifying Your intimacy in Christ. We hear Your ancient echoes and lofty expectations in our hearts. You are in the fiber of our souls. In being true to ourselves, we are faithful to You. Help us to image You in our wholeheartedness to You and each other. Cure the half-heartedness and hard-heartedness which allows us to ignore brothers and sisters in the ditches on the pathways of our lives. Recreate us in Your image and infuse us again with the Spirit of Jesus, that we may live in the freedom and power of Your generous heart. Be moved with compassion for us today, that we not be strangers from our own hearts.
St. Therese, we are aware that in 1858, your parents, Zelie Guerin and Louis Martin, were married this day. They had both pursued other vocations as a Nun and Priest, but God called them together into the holy vocation of marriage and they produced a holy and wonderful family. Help us to reverence marriage as a reflection and sacrament of God’s covenant and faithfulness to us. As parents, help us instill a great spirituality of the holiness of all life into our children.
