Opening Prayer

Jesus, Rabbi, Teacher and Lord, people must have looked askance at You when you chose Matthew, because he was a tax collector, and therefore in collusion with the Romans. But it gives me hope that, despite the collusion and compromise of my life, You see into my heart and continue to call and choose me. Give me the humility to accept Your call and challenge as gifts. Teach me to be Your apostle by the way I treat others and step over demeaning and dividing judgments. Make me an apostle of Your good news today. Let me write the gospel of your love by the way I live today.
