Opening Prayer

God of life, You rained down manna in the desert for the children of Israel, even though they were scared and did not trust you. They romanticized their past in Egypt, but You called them forth and became food for their journey to the land of promise. In our life, You send Jesus as the Bread of Life. He is our manna. He is food for our journey. He gives us himself in the Eucharist, in His Body and Blood. Help us, Lord, to accept the food of life You give us. May the Body and Blood of Jesus transform us and make us manna for others – that all Your people might be fed and all hunger filled. Through the power of Jesus, keep us on the journey to the land of promised justice and peace.
