Opening Prayer
Jesus, you seem to be enjoying the engaging attention of Mary, even as you hungered for the meal Martha was cooking for you. Please continue to remind us that food for the spirit and soul is more important than the nourishment of our bodies. The hungers to belong, be noticed and be loved are the deepest yearnings of our spirit – and Your Spirit dwelling within us. Teach us to be hospitable to all who come our way. Be with us, God of the Journey, on all the journeys You send us on, within and beyond. Empower us that our word, witness and example may transform others and call them closer to You. May Your hospitable mercy be the embrace which uplifts us, the food which nourishes us, and the word we proclaim to others.
