Opening Prayer

Ancient God, Ever Youthful Spirit, You are the God of our History, the God of Today. You move us forward in faith into the unknown future of promise. Sometimes we want to cling to the past and old ways because they are familiar and give us security. Help us to trust You – that You are creating an ever better future for us, as you promised. InSpirit us with courage that we not shrink this journey of faith into a walk of fulfillment of only our needs and comfortable security. The wine is old and has been aged wonderfully by Your faithful love throughout the generations. Yet You have created a new wineskin in Jesus – the wine of Your messianic dreams and promise has been poured out in Him. Everything about us and our world has been bathed in Your new wine – in his sacrificial and life-giving Blood. All things are new and connected in Christ. We belong to Him, and He belongs to You. May Your glory and power soak and flood every part of us and our world.
