Opening Prayer

God of many voices, we are children of grace because You have spoken in our midst. Refine my heart that I might be obedient only to the voice of Your Spirit. Deafen me to inner voices which distract and discourage me, and destroy others, reducing them to functions of my needs. Lord, I am so weak! You are so strong! Yet You require so much of us because You have given us so much. We are Your trusted servants. You empower us to keep busy creating Your reign of justice, love, and peace so that Your voice might break through and permeate the whole creation, singing Your song of saving peace. Keep us on guard to see and hear the subtle ways you are breaking out in our world today. We ask You this in the Name of Jesus, Your Word, spoken in our midst.
