Tuesday of the Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time

Opening Prayer

Good Jesus, it is touching to watch you raise the only son of the widow of Nain.  How much you must have delighted her broken heart!  Your miracles announce that the God of life wills to raise up everything of death.  You touch a mother’s heart – you promise us life.  You raise up women and men to serve and bring to life your living Body, the Church today.  We know that you have great expectations of them to bring your life and word to others.  You call them to be good stewards of your Word – and generous in calling forth life in service of your brothers and sisters.  Today, we remember women and men anointed by your Spirit, and oil, especially deacons, priests, bishops, and women in leadership roles, who serve us in your Name!
