Opening Prayer

Lord Jesus, you unite us with God. You have taken our human experience, in all its glory and wonder, as well as its sinfulness and fragility, to the Holy One. You have made us holy and transformed us. Like Paul, your Spirit empowers us to be apostles – to call forth and proclaim God’s gracious and freeing love, and the peace which is God’s gift to all his children. Jonah was snatched from death as a sign of your incredible power. Jesus, you were raised to life that we might experience your saving presence, reaching to the ends of the earth – and to the depths of our souls. Lord, I need no other sign than the resurrection of Jesus and the way you are calling your Risen Body to renewed life in our world today. Raise us, Lord Jesus! Raise me, Lord Jesus!
