Opening Prayer

Lord, sometimes You are so hard to understand! Jesus shows us in the Gospel that Your injustice is not our sense of justice. Your compassion exceeds and expands justice. In the Hebrew Scriptures, the trees know that they must surrender their fruit, leaves, limbs, and shade if they are to reign. Power and authority as self-emptying service of others is so challenging. This is what Jesus taught us as he washed feet. Service is what Your reign is about. Pour forth Your light, that we may share the message of Your justice and loving service with all the people You bring into our life this day. Help us to heal and integrate conflicts within and around us.
