Opening Prayer

Great and Mighty God, You are the Rock of Ages.  You are awesome in Your strength and mightier than all the Kings, powers, armies and animals of the world.  You endure far beyond the most powerful, precious, and enduring human realities!  Help us to acknowledge Your saving power and faithful presence in our lives.  Keep us focused on the end of days, when in Your own time, You will fulfill covenant promises of integrity, justice and peace.  Approaching the millennium, many people make false predictions and read dire signs.  Teach us patient trust of Your Kairos time.  As the mighty Stone, crush the false idols we create of our own needs, frustrations, emptiness and dreams.  InSpirit us to be faithful to You, as the only, one and faithful God whose compassion and presence are enduring age upon age until the fullness of days.  Thank you for being the Rock we can always count on.
