Opening Prayer

You are a strange King, Jesus! You are more like a searching attentive Shepherd. You radiate neither royal pride nor haughty might, but a servant’s power. You are one of us, and have lifted us all up by Your presence. As your beloved and royal brothers and sisters, you seek us when we get lost. As members of your royal family, teach us to serve you by searching for and attending to the fragile, forsaken and forgotten in our world. We are narrow-minded and distorted, Lord Jesus. We love power, privilege and prestige. Teach us again to understand where your kingdom truly lies among your little and suffering ones, that we might never say: “if we only knew it was you!” Hail Lord Jesus! I love you, Divine Shepherd! I follow you, Humble Servant!
