Opening Prayer
Lord of hosts, you are so demanding! It is frightening that the cries of the people we have hurt or treated unjustly will echo before us and within us! We define ourselves by our goods and reputation, and yet You remind us of how frail or corrupt it all is. You are the absolute! You define us! You remember what we forget! Empower us not to scandalize others, especially the weak, innocent, and impressionable. Please don’t cripple us even if we cripple others. Be the salt which flavors our life and preserves the goodness You created and enhance in us! Quench the violence which warps and destroys us, and limits the harvest of your kingdom.
