Opening Prayer
God of the generations, You have a long memory and freeing hopes! You invite and empower us to be like You – to treat others with respect and justice. You are a God of high expectations, who asks us to be fully alive in the values of Your reign. Even though we see ourselves as victims of sin and limits handed onto us by our ancestors and society, help us to rely on Your grace to overcome our sinfulness and be uplifted to higher values. Transform us, Lord, in the Spirit of Jesus. Help us not to defile Your innocent children by the way we compromise Your Kingdom. Empower us to hand on what is best in us and what is from You to the next generation. Humble us to learn from their hopes, dreams and wonders. Recreate our hearts, God of the generations, with youthful new hope.
