Opening Prayer

God of History, You love to challenge us as a people and as individual persons. You implant dreams beyond our imagination. You led Moses near the promised land, which he would never walk in. Lord, You plant dreams of Your Kingdom in our hearts which challenge and fire our spirit – dreams which frustrate, because we do not see their fulfillment. Help us to never lose faith. May our vision be undimmed and our vigor unabated. Help us to acknowledge and trust that You are the God of History Who will fulfill all dreams of Your Kingdom, in Your time. As Jesus taught us, help us to reverence the moment of time we have as Your gift. When we gather with our sisters and brothers in Your name, make us more sensitive and open to the presence of Jesus among us. Empower us to use the keys of the kingdom to loose whatever oppression and bondage limits the justice, freedom, peace, and dignity of any and all of Your children.
