Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus, while recovering from military wounds, Ignatius read your life and those of the saints, and you inspired him to a great conversion. He founded the Society of Jesus to help the Church in time of need – to help educate people in their faith, to encourage greater use of the sacraments, to be instruments of evangelization and to fight heresy. In his “Spiritual Exercises” he teaches us to be more conformed to you, Lord Jesus, and to follow the will of God. Give me the grace that faith in you might be the foundation of my life. Help me to take up the cross with courage and faith in the daily experiences of my life. So permeate my spirit that everything I do may be done for Your honor and glory. Let me be an instrument of Your truth and love. And Lord, I pray for the Jesuits this day, that they may be faithful to the zeal of Ignatius and be blessed with many vocations.
