Opening Prayer

Good God, You really are the Desire of our Heart!  Like Nehemiah, we long for the ancestral lands of identity, fulfillment and truth.  Sometimes it feels like we are in exile and need a deep rootedness and inner peace which only You can provide.  Yes, God in Whose Image we are created, we seek safe passage to the inner depths where You live.  We are sad of heart because we are cut off from Your grounding reality and our inner truth.  Ignite Your fire within us that we might follow Jesus.  Give us trust to risk the journey and not be so preoccupied with where we lay our heads and other distracting responsibilities.  Focus our hearts on truth!  Focus our hearts on You!  Call us home, deep within, You Who are the Desire of our Heart.
