Opening Prayer

Jesus, your revelation is powerful and challenging. Like Paul, we pay a price to follow you and proclaim your uplifting message. Sometimes I feel like a fool, living in an unreal world! Sometimes I succumb to my selfish need for human affirmation and the need to please others, as more important than establishing your reign. You really do stretch our hearts–you want it all. Wholeheartedness seems to be your middle name and what you want of us. I’m sorry that I get selective and who I deem to be my neighbor, Lord. At times it is easier to ignore, look away and move on, stifling your compassion in my heart. I’ve become cynical and suspicious. My innocence has been stripped and my trust robbed. I feel like the traveler fallen into the wayside of darkness and denial. Be my Good Samaritan today, Lord Jesus. Mary, Mother of God, may your rosary draw us closer to your Son!
