Opening Prayer

Sometimes I’m uncomfortable with that angry part of you, Jesus, who turns over tables. I like you better when you are gentle and compassionate. Were you upset that the tax excluded poor people from God’s presence? Were you upset that the fig tree was supposed to bear fruit? Are you upset with our excluding religious infertility today? Teach us again to be like the godly people of old, whose wealth was You and whose heritage is Your reign. Deepen our faith, Jesus, to trust you and to forgive each other. Help us to hear again your message that God will treat us the way we treat each other.
