Opening Prayer

Gentle God, we are comfortable when You are Almighty and All-Powerful God!  We are attracted to power, privilege, plenty, and prestige.  There is some shock as You talk about uplifting a lowly remnant.  It is confusing to us who spend our efforts being powerful, beautiful, wealthy and pain-free.  Your Reign seems to have everything upside-down!  Your affection for the weak, weird, fragile, and forgotten disturbs us.  Help us to believe and live your Beatitudes as the heart of your Love and the definition of Your Reign.  Humble me to uplift your values in the priorities of spirit, so that I might be included in Your remnant.
