Opening Prayer

God of life, be our leaven. Without you, we are like unleavened bread which does not rise. We are empty without power of Your presence. Without you, our journey to the land of promise seems endless. As the Pharisees were threatened by Jesus in today’s Gospel, and therefore were plotting to kill him, help us not to try to destroy people who threaten us. Make us people of peace, who never use violence in action, word or silence to destroy others. Endow us with Your spirit that we know that we are Your chosen friends and all people are Your Children. We pray in the name of Jesus who is Our leaven and Lord.
