Opening Prayer
Holy God, Your love is awesome! The staff You give us is the Cross of Jesus, leading us to the promised land of Your Heart. Your Son Jesus so emptied Himself for love of us. Your love is awesome! Your love is humbling! Your love is strange and challenging! The cross seems like such a failure and tragedy. You made it the triumph of love. As we seek to build kingdoms of power, privilege, and prestige, and try to fill the emptiness within us, teach us to look at Jesus in His self-emptying and surrender to You. This symbol of failure is Your greatest expression of Your love. You give all!!! Help us not to cling or grasp to anything or anyone, but You! Jesus, You are Lord and Christ to the glory of our Holy God!!!!
