St. Therese Intercessions

St. ThereseIf you would like to share with us a special time when you felt St. Therese's intercession in your life, please tell us.

Through the intercession of St. Therese, the lives of many people have been permanently changed. Her love for us is immeasurable, and her intervention often leaves us with gratitude and appreciation. The following experiences of intercession are examples of how St. Therese continues to "shower her roses" upon us.

I was in the seminary and seeking guidance on whether I should leave the seminary to marry my future wife. We were at a religious retreat and agreed to meet after her music rehearsal to pray together to seek guidance. We met in a courtyard beside the Abbey church and it was dark with no illumination. We sat together and began to pray. Our prayer was blessed with a special sense of joint prayer in that we each knew that our separate prayers were truly one prayer for us both. We finished our prayer and were suddenly overwhelmed by the scent of roses and even though we could not see any we both commented that we should return in the morning to see the flowers that must be there. We could hardly speak when we returned the next morning to the exact spot where we had been the night before and no roses were present but we had in the darkness been sitting direclty in front of a statue of Theresa the little flower. It was this moment that we realised that God had called us to be together and began a liftime of devotion made all the more special when one of our children after hearing the story commented that it was neat that we hadnt sought Theresa intercession but instead had been given it without asking. Our eldest daughter was named after Theresa and recently had a daughter and as I thought about that I realised that my daughter had been gifted by Thesea as well. Her daughters name was Lily and thus it was obvious that she had been given an answer by being gifted with her own "little flower", her daughter.

I am the single mother of a large adoptive family of children who have special needs. A few years ago, my family was being torn apart by a malicious rumor that threatened to separate us all. I was really distraught, couldn't sleep, worried all the time for over a month. During that time, my mother's sister sent me a box of small items that had belonged to my long-deceased grandmother: her prayer books, rosaries, small statues. Among them were worn prayer cards to St. Therese. Since I love and admire my grandmother, I decided to ask Therese's help also. So one night I fell asleep praying to Therese and woke during the night with a lovely person standing over me - a person who was really present, yet as an image of light, and she was smiling at me kindly. I recognized her as Therese. She did not say anything to me, but I felt a deep sense of peace and all my fear was lifted. I knew everything would be all right. It was as if Therese had come to tell me: Heaven is on your side.... The next day, the situation completely resolved itself. Whenever I wonder about or fear life or death, I remember her kind face, beauty, and complete joy. Her kindness that lived beyond life on earth continues to sustain me when times are hard. She is my role model of peace and kindness even to those who do us harm - and this is never easy.... we can only follow her example as best we can.

My healthy, athletic 13 year old daughter was diagnosed with a serious brain tumor last September 2007. The day I took her to Johns Hopkins Hospital she knocked over a podium with her teacher's things. Everything fell in one pile, except one prayer card fell separately. It was a St. Therese prayer card. I did not really know anything about St. Therese then. We began to pray to St. Therese. She has interceded in so many ways, answering prayers and showering us with roses! Caroline's MRI's have continued to be good, and she tolerated all of the treatments beautifully. The surgery and tumor left her right side paralyzed. She had to relearn to walk, use her right arm/hand, swallow, talk...We (and so many friends and family) have prayed constantly to St. Therese. Today, Caroline is walking without her brace (and only a slight limp), using her right hand more and more (eating, writing, shooting baskets...). So many specific prayers have been answered, and we are so thankful. We will continue to pray to St. Therese, in petition and thanksgiving. I will continue to make her known to everyone who will listen, and thereby lead others to Jesus through her. Thank you, thank you St. Therese!

I boarded one of the first commercial flights out of Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood airport one week after 9/11 for a job interview in Nashville. The events of the previous week affected us all. The flight was so quiet everyone seemed to be in their own world. Aside from the obvious I also carried the burden of awaiting test results for possible heart problems for my un-born child. My wife and I both raised in the Catholic Church leaned heavily on our faith during this time. St. Therese and a single rose entered my life one year earlier when I was researching saints during another difficult time. I printed the novena and the Learn About Therese page from the Society of the Little Flower website and read them several times during the trip. In the morning I went to the resorts restaurant to have breakfast and prepare for my day of interviews. The hostess was busy seating another guest so a waitress approached and led me to a table in a quiet section of the atrium dining room even though I did not ask for seclusion. The waitress took my drink order then looked in my eyes and spoke words I will remember the rest of my life. “You look like you are prepared for a busy day and you have a lot on your mind but EVERYTHING WILL BE OK then she repeated it “EVERYTHING, WILL BE OK”” Then she said “ if you need anything please let me know and by the way my name is ROSE”. I was floored, my eyes welled up and the complete joy that washed over me was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I nailed the interviews, we moved to Nashville and very healthy Nickolas was born at Vanderbilt University Hospital two months later. St. Therese “The Little Flower” was present in my life that day not as flower but as a waitress named Rose..

My Father died Feb. 6, 2007 from an unexpected, although not surprising, heart attack. My parents had just moved to Annapolis, MD. to spend their retirerment years. He was a man of simple faith, and dedicated his life to my mom and his children. The night after he died my Mom read a book about St. Theresa and prayed to her. When I arrived from Chicago a few days later I went up to the room he died in and noticed a really, really strong smell of roses, flowers. It was as if the room was a floral shop filled with roses. I thought mabe someone had sprayed perfume on, because it was also the room we put coats and purses in. My sister arrived bedind me and, with wide eyes, and asked: "Do you smell that?" I said yes, was it one of my cousins perfumes? "It's smelled like that since Dad died." I did not give the scent a second thought until later that year my mother went on a retreat and told a priest about the roses. He mentioned that St. Therese sends her sent to those who pray and are in need. We now know why it smelled so good! My father's death and funeral were a confirmation to me and my family of ressurection and the promises that Jesus gave to us. In a way, his death was a parting gift to us all. My faith is rock solid, and I have no doubt that He exists. I love you!
