In light of today's Scripture readings, Fr. Bob's Prayer is:
Creator God, we are grateful for the way You created us, how you made us of the earth. Help us to be comfortable in our earthly humanity, as Jesus was comfortable in our humanity. Sometimes we follow spiritualities which diminish, rather than embrace, our humanity. With Your probing Spirit, help us explore the wonderful and vast universe of our world and of ourselves. There is so much to explore within and beyond. Clarify our vision so that we see what You see. Give us the innocence of children, whom Jesus so cherished. We become so cynical and mistrusting as adults. Empower us to embrace our inner child, who so reflects Your image deep within. Do you weep for our lost innocence, Jesus? Only the child in us can truly follow and know You. Isn't that why St. Therese, the Little Flower, is so special to you and teaches us Your deepest wisdom in her 'little way' of spiritual childhood. Save us from being overly sophisticated or hardened of heart that we miss Your truth and lose Your kingdom. Make us comfortable in our earthly humanity, Lord, as it images You!
