“The power of prayer has been understood by all the saints, and especially, perhaps, by those who have illuminated the world with the light of Christ’s teaching.”
-From Story of a Soul
This is taken from the last pages of St. Therese’s autobiography, Story of a Soul. When this final manuscript (Manuscript C) was written, Therese was confined to the infirmary and would die there within five months. During this time, Therese experienced physical pain and spiritual darkness. While she was having trouble feeling God in her life, she persisted to love Him and pray to Him.
At this time in her life, Therese felt distant from God; but she understood that through prayers and actions, she was being the light of Christ. This confidence and trust in our Father is important to St. Therese’s little way.
