“I feel that my mission is about to begin- to make others love God as I love Him.” -St. Therese of Lisieux From Last Conversations, July 17, 1897
In the final days of her life, St. Therese was suffering from tuberculosis. This caused her to cough up blood along with other violent symptoms. On July 17, 1897, St. Therese was up in the middle of the night suffering from her illness as her sister, Pauline, kept her company.
At this time, St. Therese said: “I feel that my mission is about to begin- to make others love God as I love Him.” She continued to say that she will do this by, “giving my little way to souls.”
St. Therese’s little way is the authentic way of following Jesus. She understood that through her little actions fueled by love, she was sharing her confidence and trust in God. Through sharing in her little way, we are daily working toward holiness. We are letting people know who might have forgotten or never felt God’s love become more aware of His goodness and faithfulness.
How awesome is that? We are leading people to Christ by simply loving.
