In light of today's Scripture readings, Fr. Bob's Prayer is: |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Jesus, you know that we like to look good and
present ourselves as beautiful and all together.
And we are attracted to the people who look good
and have much. We favor the persona of golden
people and sparkling stars, maybe hoping that
their brilliance, power and success may uplift
us. Clarify our sight that we may know that we
are beautiful because You created us and dwell
within us – and in everyone! Help us live without
judgment and favoritism. Help us to love all
people as You love them – as artistic creations of
Your love, even when we do not see their inherent
goodness. Stretch our faith. And as the
apostles were quick to tell you what other people
thought you were, help us to see the truth that
only Peter seemed to understand. Yet even as
we look You in the eye and return Your gaze, don’t
let our expectations of glory, power and privilege
misinterpret Your truth and presence. InSpirit us
with divine wisdom and insight, so that we are
not doomed by our petty human judgments .
Help us to appreciate ourselves and each other
that way You see, love and delight in us all as
Your beloved daughters and sons. |
